Ogre team roster

The Ogre roster has 3 positions. The cheapest player is the Gnoblar Lineman at 15,000 gp, the quickest is the Gnoblar Lineman with MA 5, and the strongest is the Ogre Blocker with ST 5. Team re-rolls cost 70,000 gp each.

How the team plays

Ogre is a Big Guy team with a Stunty supporting cast. Up to five Ogre Blockers at ST 5, AV 10+ with Mighty Blow and Throw Team-mate make the line, and the Ogre Runt Punter adds Kick Team-mate at PA 4+. Every Ogre has Bone Head, so one activation in six ends before it begins. Gnoblar Linemen cost 15,000 gp for a reason: ST 1, AV 6+, Dodge, Sidestep, Right Stuff, Stunty and Titchy. They fill gaps, assist and get thrown at the end zone.

The team is good at hurting people and bad at everything that needs a dice roll other than a block. Ball handling runs through Gnoblars at AG 3+ or an Ogre at AG 4+, and a Gnoblar carrier dies to any block that connects. Scoring usually means a thrown or kicked Gnoblar landing near the line, or an Ogre lumbering in. Gnoblars take casualties by the handful; the roster carries the Low Cost Linemen and Brawlin' Brutes special rules.

Building a starting roster

Coaches usually take four Ogre Blockers (560,000 gp) and the Ogre Runt Punter (145,000 gp), then fill the sheet with ten Gnoblar Linemen (150,000 gp). That is fifteen players for 855,000 gp. Re-rolls cost 70,000 gp, and two bring it to 995,000 gp. The fifth Ogre Blocker is the first purchase afterwards. A few coaches take all six Big Guys from the start, which leaves room for five Gnoblars and one re-roll at 990,000 gp. Unusually for Big Guys, the Ogres here have no Loner, so those re-rolls work for them.

Advice for newer coaches

Activate the Gnoblars first and the Ogres last, so a Bone Head failure does not strand a plan that depended on the Ogre moving. Use re-rolls on the Ogres freely; none of them has Loner. Throw a Gnoblar only when the landing wins something, because a Gnoblar that lands badly is a Gnoblar on the floor in enemy territory. Avoid lining Gnoblars up on the line of scrimmage; with AV 6+ they come off the pitch three at a time.
