How the team plays

Chaos Renegades are a bash roster of castoffs, and every one of them has Animosity (All): before any pass or hand-off the player rolls a D6, and a 1 means they refuse. Renegade Humans are the 50k lineman with AV 9+. The one-of-each specials are the interesting part: a Renegade Dark Elf with AG 2+, a Renegade Skaven with MA 7, a Renegade Orc with AV 10+, a 40k Stunty Renegade Goblin with Right Stuff, and a Renegade Human Thrower with Pass and Sure Hands.

Four Big Guys are on the roster, one each of Troll, Ogre, Minotaur and Rat Ogre, and most coaches take at least two. That is where the bash comes from, because no Renegade starts with Block. Scoring is usually the Skaven or the Dark Elf after a hand-off nobody refused. Linemen and the Goblin take the hits. An Animosity 1 at the worst moment is what hurts, along with Loner on all the Big Guys. The team plays in the Chaos Clash.

Building a starting roster

A common 1,000,000 gp build takes the five specials, Thrower (75k), Dark Elf (65k), Skaven (50k), Orc (50k) and Goblin (40k), then four Renegade Humans (200k) and two Big Guys, usually the Troll (115k) and the Ogre (140k), 735k for eleven players. Re-rolls cost 70k, so three are 210k and the total is 945k, with 50k left for an apothecary at 995k. Fitting a third Big Guy means dropping a lineman and a re-roll: three Humans, five specials and three Big Guys with two re-rolls is 975k. The Rat Ogre and the Minotaur tend to come later.

Advice for newer coaches

Pick up the ball with the Thrower and keep him as the carrier when you can; Sure Hands re-rolls the pick-up, and the Animosity roll only matters when the ball changes hands. Plan every hand-off with a backup, so that if the Skaven is refused someone else can still reach the end zone that turn. Put the Big Guys where they block and nothing else. Avoid building a drive around a long pass; a PA 4+ lineman throwing under Animosity gives you two rolls to fail before anyone catches.
