How the team plays

Necromantic Horror is a hybrid team built around two Werewolves. At MA 8 with Claws and Frenzy they are the blitzers, the scorers and the players the opposing coach wants off the pitch, and Regeneration gives them a 4+ chance to shrug off any casualty. Flesh Golems at ST 4, AV 10+ with Stand Firm anchor the line. Wraiths bring Block, Sidestep and Foul Appearance without ever touching the ball, thanks to No Ball. Zombie Linemen at MA 4 fill the rest.

The team hits above its price because every player regenerates, so an opponent who breaks armour still has only a coin flip at removing a player. Its weaknesses are speed in the middle of the roster and ball handling: Ghoul Runners at AG 3+ are the only reliable carriers besides the Werewolves, and Zombies at AG 4+ should pick nothing up. Frenzy on the Werewolves is the usual cause of self-inflicted damage: the second block drags them into a crowd or towards the sideline.

Building a starting roster

Most coaches start with both Werewolves (240,000 gp), both Flesh Golems (220,000 gp), one Wraith (85,000 gp), two Ghoul Runners (150,000 gp) and four Zombie Linemen (160,000 gp). That is eleven players for 855,000 gp. Re-rolls cost 70,000 gp, and two of them bring the total to 995,000 gp. The second Wraith comes later, as does a twelfth body: Zombies are cheap enough that the first winnings usually go on one or two spares before any positional.

Advice for newer coaches

Score with a Werewolf when the lane is open and with a Ghoul when it is crowded; the Ghoul has Dodge and the Werewolf does not. Park the Flesh Golems where Stand Firm matters most, on the sideline edge of your cage or across the lane the opponent wants. Zombies exist to mark and to foul, so put one next to a knocked-down star. Avoid blitzing with a Werewolf when the Frenzy follow-up would carry it to the sideline.
