Human team roster

The Human roster has 6 positions. The cheapest player is the Halfling Hopeful at 30,000 gp, the quickest is the Human Catcher with MA 8, and the strongest is the Ogre with ST 5. Team re-rolls cost 50,000 gp each.

How the team plays

Humans are the hybrid roster the game is taught on. Human Linemen cost 50k with MA 6, ST 3, AG 3+, AV 9+ and no skills, and General primary access turns them into Block and Guard players over a season. Blitzers start with Block and Tackle on MA 7, the Thrower has Pass and Sure Hands, and the Catcher is MA 8 with Catch and Dodge on AV 8+. An Ogre at ST 5 with Mighty Blow and Loner (3+) is the only Big Guy, and up to three Halfling Hopefuls can join at 30k as Stunty throwing fodder.

The team does nothing best and most things well enough. Catchers score and Catchers get hurt, since AV 8+ at ST 3 is a target. What hurts Humans is a team that beats them at the plan they chose that day: an elf side outruns them, a Chaos side outhits them. The team plays in the Old World Classic with the Team Captain rule.

Building a starting roster

Re-rolls are 50k for Humans, which is why the usual 1,000,000 gp list carries three. Two Human Blitzers (170k), two Catchers (150k), one Thrower (75k), the Ogre (140k) and five Linemen (250k) make eleven for 785k; three re-rolls bring it to 935k and an apothecary to 985k. Coaches who distrust Bone Head swap the Ogre for two more Linemen at 50k each and keep 55k in hand. The second Thrower and the Halfling Hopefuls are left for later, and the Hopefuls often never arrive.

Advice for newer coaches

Cage the ball with the Thrower in the middle and the Blitzers on the two forward corners; Sure Hands makes the pick-up safe and Block on the corners survives the blitz. Use the Blitzers' Tackle on Dodge players; it is the reason to blitz with them rather than with a Lineman. Score with a Catcher pass when the opponent's deep players are out of position, and run the clock when they are not. Avoid activating the Ogre first; move him last, so a Bone Head 1 costs nothing.
