Imperial Nobility team roster
The Imperial Nobility roster has 5 positions. The cheapest player is the Imperial Retainer at 45,000 gp, the quickest is the Noble Blitzer with MA 7, and the strongest is the Ogre with ST 5. Team re-rolls cost 60,000 gp each.
Make Imperial Nobility cardsHow the team plays
Imperial Nobility is a defensive hybrid. Retainers are 45k linemen with Fend on AV 8+: a blocker who pushes one cannot follow up, so a line of Retainers slows a bash team one square at a time. Bodyguards are the heart of the team, up to four at ST 3, MA 5 and AV 9+ with Stand Firm and Wrestle. Noble Blitzers have Block, Catch and Pro on MA 7, and the Imperial Thrower has PA 2+ with Pass, Pro and Give and Go, so he keeps moving after a quick pass.
The Nobility plays a slow possession game: the Thrower hands off and keeps walking, Bodyguards screen with Stand Firm so pushes go nowhere, and a Noble Blitzer takes the ball in. What hurts is ST 3 everywhere except the optional Ogre, and the thin armour on the Retainers, who take most of the casualties. Fend and Stand Firm stop you being moved and do nothing about being knocked down. The league is the Old World Classic.

Building a starting roster
A common 1,000,000 gp start takes two Noble Blitzers (180k), one Imperial Thrower (75k), all four Bodyguards (340k) and four Retainers (180k), 775k for eleven. Three re-rolls at 60k each bring the total to 955k, and the last 45k buys a twelfth Retainer for exactly 1,000,000 gp. Coaches who want the Ogre from the start take him (140k) with three Retainers (135k) instead, 870k for eleven, and two re-rolls for 990k. The second Thrower and the apothecary wait for winnings.
Advice for newer coaches
Hand off with the Thrower and then use Give and Go to walk him back behind the screen in the same activation. Place Bodyguards where the opponent wants to push through; Stand Firm holds the square and Wrestle puts the blitzer down beside them. Let the Retainers take the blocks on the line, since Fend stops the follow-up and leaves the opponent out of position. Avoid using Pro and then expecting a team re-roll on the same die; once Pro is tried, that roll is settled.
