How the team plays

Underworld Denizens are a Stunty mob with a thin layer of Skaven, under the Underworld Challenge banner. Goblin Linemen at 40,000 gp with Dodge, Right Stuff and Stunty are the bulk. One Skaven Thrower, Gutter Runner and Skaven Blitzer plus up to three Clanrats supply the speed and ball handling; Animosity (Goblin) means a rat sometimes refuses to pass to a Goblin. A Troll and a Rat Ogre are both available, and Mutation is a primary skill category almost everywhere.

The team is good at being awkward: Goblins dodge through tackle zones freely, the Gutter Runner at MA 9 scores from anywhere, and the Troll throws Goblins at the end zone. It is bad at surviving contact, with ST 2 and AV 8+ on the Goblins, and bad at trusting its own players: Animosity on the rats, Really Stupid on the Troll, Animal Savagery on the Rat Ogre. Bribery and Corruption is on the sheet, and most coaches foul accordingly. The Gutter Runner and thrown Goblins score; Goblins get hurt.

Building a starting roster

Most coaches start with the Troll (115,000 gp), Rat Ogre (150,000 gp), Skaven Blitzer (90,000 gp), Gutter Runner (85,000 gp), Skaven Thrower (80,000 gp), three Clanrats (150,000 gp) and four Goblin Linemen (160,000 gp): twelve players for 830,000 gp. Two re-rolls at 70,000 gp each bring it to 970,000 gp. The alternative leaves the Rat Ogre for later and spends its 150,000 gp on a third re-roll and two more Goblins, which also comes to 970,000 gp. Snotling Linemen at 15,000 gp are the cheapest way to fill the last slots.

Advice for newer coaches

Score with the Gutter Runner or a thrown Goblin, and keep the Skaven Thrower away from Goblin receivers unless the pass is the only option, since Animosity can end the activation. Dodge with Goblins instead of blocking: Stunty ignores the marking penalty, and AV 8+ does not survive the return block. Keep the Troll beside a team-mate for the +2 on Really Stupid. Avoid moving the Rat Ogre while a Goblin stands beside it; Animal Savagery without the Block bonus fails half the time, at the Goblin's expense.
